High School Art II & III - Printmaking

By Emily P.

High School Advanced Art students had fun creating their own linoleum cut stamps and experimenting with printing ink and paper. Beforehand, we learned about various printmaking processes as well as the Artist of the Month, Gustav Dore', who created very detailed and prolific printmaking illustrations for many classic novels and poems as well as the Bible. You'll enjoy seeing what our amazing high school students created!

High School Art 1 - Beauty for Ashes Project

By Elias A.

For our end-of-April project, GPA High School Art I students got to watch a film by Bentzi Avtzon called "The Light of Fire" about a very talented artist named Yoram Ranaan who lives in Israel. The film documents the story of a fire in 2016 that burned down Ranaan's studio destroying a great number of his paintings and life's work. They got to see how he and his family were affected and how they came through that season together. The class also saw how Ranaan's process of being creative changed somewhat. After we watched the film we had a short class discussion about it and about how God can take the difficult and painful things in our lives, and the mistakes we've made, and use it for our good or even do something new in us. This inspired our "Beauty for Ashes" project. The students were allowed to create, paint, or draw whatever they wanted in this theme. Some students illustrated seasons or events from their own lives and some illustrated scripture from the Bible that speak to this theme as well. To find out more about the film "The Light of Fire" or the artist Yoram Ranaan and his beautiful artworks go to the following links.

Middle School Art - Easter Eggs!

Middle School Art students have been "taking a trip around the world" looking at art in different countries this year. For our Easter celebration we read the history about a couple of Easter traditions  and we enjoyed seeing how other countries decorated eggs. Each student then got to decorate 2-3 eggs of their own using varying types of art media. Enjoy perusing our Eggstravaganza and hunting for your own student's eggs!
