HS Art II & III - Parody in Art

Students in High School Art II & III, recently completed a project based on parody in art. First we learned the background story of the most parodied artwork in the world, Grant Wood's "American Gothic". If you would like to learn more about the story of that piece here are a couple of links to check it out:

The Untold Story of the Most Parodied Painting in the World

For their project, our amazing students selected a famous work of art and created their own holiday themed parody of it. I was so so impressed with how much they got into this assignment. They did a fantastic job. I think you'll enjoy looking at them below. I also included the original artwork that was parodied above each student's version.

HS Art 1 - Holiday Themed Color Study

By Rachel R.

Students in High School Art 1 learned recently about the Art Element of Color. After learning how we see color and color terminology they did a study of the following color schemes with a holiday theme: a complementary color pair, cool or warm colors, analogous colors, and a monochromatic color scheme. They could also use black and white in their color schemes. Have fun perusing their holiday art gallery.
