MS Art - Drawing Together, Students React to Corona Virus

The Corona Virus Pandemic has been such a surreal and unprecedented time in history and it is affecting people in lots of ways. One way of processing our emotions is to create something whether it's a poem, a song, a journal entry, a garden, or a piece of artwork. For this project, each student created a drawing in response to the Corona Virus Pandemic. For their project, they had to choose one of the following themes to inspire their drawing:

- My life during the Corona Virus Quarantine
- Things seen during the Corona Virus Pandemic
- A positive message of hope and optimism
- The first thing I will do when this is all over is...
- My vacation spot in my mind
- A thank you to our doctors, nurses, grocery store workers, etc.

Enjoy seeing their thoughts and feelings in picture form!

HS Art 1 - Self-Portrait Drawing

By Jonathan A.

High school Art 1 students have been working on a lot of drawing assignments. This one was drawing two self-portraits side-by-side. The first one they drew by just looking at themselves in a mirror and the second one they drew from looking at a photograph of themselves. It is fun to see how they turned out. They all had different opinions on which one they liked better or which one was easier to draw from. Enjoy seeing their work!

In addition, there is a surprise portrait at the end. One of our teachers at Grace Prep wanted to try the assignment too and drew a self-portrait by looking a photograph.
Can you guess who it is?

HS Advanced Art - Independent Artist Study

By Maggie L. (Inspired by the artist Andy Warhol)

Students in the high school Advanced Art class have been working on an independent artist study project. They each chose an artist that they were interested in, created a work of art inspired by that artist, and then had to write a 2+ page report on their chosen artist. Some of the students created two works of art for this project. I am so proud of what they created for this project! Enjoy taking a look at their masterpieces! (Click on each photo to see close up.)
