HS Art 1 - 4th Quarter Sketchbook Entries

When the second semester began this year I thought I would have the students do something a little different for their sketchbook entries. We looked at how sketchbooks or art journals could be used based on a person's interests or job. Architectural sketchbooks, interior design sketchbooks, travel journaling, calligraphy practice, and landscape design, art media practice were just some of the ways these blank books could be used. I asked the students to think of their sketchbooks in that way. I wanted them to draw in them based on either what they were interested in, or on what art skills and media they wanted to practice on, or on what they wanted to remember about their lives. They each had to create 3 total meaningful entries (one for each month January through March) and then 2 more (for April and May). Their entries didn't disappoint. Some students asked permission to do their own art projects at home in lieu of sketchbook entries which I approved as long they took some thought and effort to do them. I selected one from each student to share with you here.
