Middle School Art - 45 Minute Sculpture Challenge

Students in Middle School Art enjoyed a 45 minute sculpture challenge in class one day this week. I had lots of random arts and craft supplies that had been left in the art room from previous years and put together several ziplock bags each containing some of those random items. Students got into groups and each group chose a ziplock bag. They had 45 minutes to create either one thing or several things from their bag of supplies and had to use everything in it. At the end of the time limit they presented their creations to the class. Enjoy seeing their creations below!

Middle School Art - Paper Mache Masks

Our last Element of Art to learn about was Form which is used in the Art world for 3-dimensional artworks. For our project, students used CelluClay, which is a kind of paper mâché clay, to add interest to their mask forms. They then painted them with acrylic paints and added final embellishments if they wanted (like feathers, sequins, lace, pipe cleaners, etc.). I think they really enjoyed this project. HS Art 1 - Two-Point Perspective

 High School Art 1 Students recently completed learning about the Art Element of Space and how to create the illusion of space within an artwork. One of the techniques that can be used is Linear Perspective. After learning how to draw with Linear Perspective using both one "vanishing point" and two "vanishing points" students created their own Linear Perspective drawings.
