High School Art 1 - Drawing With Linear Perspective

The Element of Art we just completed looking at in Art 1 was Space. Students learned how to create a sense of space (or depth) in a flat work of art using different techniques. One of the techniques was using linear perspective. Students practiced drawing simple buildings with one and two vanishing points and then created a work of art using linear perspective. One student had fun challenging himself and tried drawing with 5 vanishing points! You'll enjoy seeing their compositions from their perspectives. :-)

High School Art II/III - Printmaking

Students in the High School Art II and III class had fun with their recent printmaking project. After learning printmaking terminology and a little about the artist Gustav Dore, they each created their own printmaking linoleum cut stamp. After running their test print they had enjoyed experimenting with ink and different paper backgrounds. Enjoy their masterpieces and artist statements below!

My artwork is a lighthouse. One of them I painted a background that I thought looked fun and cool. The idea to draw a lighthouse just popped into my head. The final piece is exactly what I imagined.

I chose this design because I wanted to do something Marvel related. I liked making the different color mixtures. I'm quite proud of this. In my opinion, it is better than my last one [which was done last year].

I had a ton of fun learning to carve and use ink in the art of printmaking. I enjoyed experimenting with different colors to create and interesting piece of art. I simplified a character from the Dream SMP to make a polite little blob surrounded by grass and flowers. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed doing this project and I hope to try more with printmaking in the near future!

I chose to do a camper because I really enjoy camping and being outdoors. The colors are based on Valentine's Day because that's when I started printing.

My art piece has lots of color and life! The statement I made is "Make your life Extraordinary, Be the light!" The first letter of each line is M, E, and B. Those letters stand for the initials in my name.

For my printmaking project, I decided to use a baby dragon design because I thought it was cute. I used some of my favorite colors for the ink. I think this is one of my best art pieces.

For the colors I used red, white, and black. For the print I did lotus flowers. I used lines at the bottom of the flowers to create an idea of depth and shadows.

I created this project because I love bees. Drawing fat bees makes me happy and fat bees remind me of being tired. In general, it's just a cute, fun, little stamp.  :)

I decided to print a frog because I have a small obsession with them. The printmaking project is always a treat to do and I like having some texture in the background of it.

The print is based on a YouTuber named Mr. Beast. I'm not a fan of this YouTuber, but I have been into drawing funny pictures of well known mascots, so I saw Mr. Beast and the rest is history.

Middle School Art - Matryoshka Dolls

We're looking at Art Around the World this year in Middle School Art. This project was inspired the by the country of Russia... Matryoshka Dolls! After looking at a few real sets of these clever nesting dolls students got to draw a set with their own theme idea. You'll get a kick out of their cleverness!

High School Art 1 - Group Drawing Project

We are learning about the different Elements of Art in Art 1 this year and the most recent one we've focused on is Shape. Students learned that when you zoom in on just a part of a work of art you can see that it is made up of lines, values, and shapes. To help focus on the shapes within an artwork, students divided into groups of three or four. Each group selected a black and white photo which was cut into small squares. Then each student took three of the squares to reproduce on larger pieces of paper. When they were finished with their individual squares the groups reassembled their drawings from their chosen photo onto a large piece of butcher paper. The finished projects are fun to look at as you can see that each student has a different drawing style. The lines, and values, and shapes don't always line up but you can still tell what the larger picture is supposed to be and they have a kind of abstract art feel to them.
