High School Art II/III - Illustration

Students in Art II and III, recently finished an illustration project after learning about one of America's premier illustrators, Norman Rockwell. For their assignment they got to choose one of the following categories for which to create an illustrative work of art:

- Commercial/Advertising Illustration - Media/Newspaper/Magazine Illustration - Video Game/Animation - Literary Illustration - Educational/Scientific Illustration

Enjoy seeing their ideas and artwork! (Click on each picture to see more closely.)

Educational Illustration by Josiah T.

I chose to draw and label a bass because I love fishing. I also find the way they look and the way they move so agile and interesting.

Advertising Illustration by Maddie B.

I chose to illustrate a Christmas Festival poster because I want to go to a Christmas tree lighting festival similar to the ones in Christmas Hallmark movies with hot chocolate, fun booths, and delicious food tables! Can't wait to go and see a giant tree all lit up and beautiful!

Advertising Illustration by Michelle B.

I like juice and I like fruit so I decided to do fruit juice. Sunshine Juice for the name popped into my head. Sunshine Juice is made with all the best types of fruit.

Educational Illustration by Stephen H.

For my project I drew and labeled a skeleton hand. I drew this because I draw hands often and wanted to try to draw a skeletal hand. The colors represent the different sections of the hand and what they're called.

Video Game Illustration by David M.

This design is based off Terminal Montage and the picture is my version of the game's title.

Lyric Illustration by Zoe S.

My piece of art is based off of a song called "I'll Be Alright" by Christopher Bensinger. I chose the colors to kind of display a tightness and a darkness around the couple. This is one of my favorite pieces of art, and one of my favorite songs.

Literary Illustration by Rachel R.

This art is inspired by my love of how Suzanne Collins describes Katniss's dresses in The Hunger Games. I used copic markers for Katniss and her dress, watercolor and ink for the background and fire, and colored pencil for added texture, I suppose. I used a book for my illustration because Jim Kay illustrated the Harry Potter books and I wanted to try out something similar.

Literary Illustration by Julia L.

I've liked this poem for a while so I decided to use it for my project.
It looked a little bland so I added the background.

 Comic Illustration By Teagan M.

For my illustration project, I decided to do a mix of a comic panel and song lyrics. I chose the chorus of the song "Grow" by The Oh Hellos. These specific lyrics are about achieving growth by allowing yourself to let go and basically trust God as change happens. I chose to draw characters from the Dream SMP because I feel like their circumstances relate with the song well.

Advertising Illustration by Grace O.

I chose to do this because I wanted to create by own thing and thought of this.
Julia helped with the idea.
