Students in high school Art II & III enjoyed creating a work of art that had to include either bones, exoskeletons, seashells, or endoskeletons. Enjoy seeing what they created below and their artist statements. (Click on each photo to see more closely.)

This is a chimpanzee skull. It has a black surrounding. This really shows the holes and caverns inside the skull.

I chose to do a bird skull because I think they look nice. It's easy for me to do things with pencil so I kept it like a sketch. I enjoyed doing this project because it was fun.

I did this drawing of the butterfly in honor of my mom. She loves butterflies and it was just something that fit the theme perfectly. It was honestly a fun piece I enjoyed making.

I chose the vertebrae because it has an interesting shape and structure. I enjoyed the shading of it and the way it looks 3D like. Bones are really cool in the way that they last even after you die just like art.

I chose to draw a human skull because I wanted to do the skull black and white and then add bright colors around it with paint.

For my bones study project I decided to have Jack Skelengton, but with a more realistic look walking toward a bright colorful Christmas snow globe. I chose that idea because I am a fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas, and I thought it would be fun and interesting to create a skeleton related artwork that showed wonder and hope instead of darkness and misery. What I enjoyed about this project was the chance to express my love toward Jack Skelengton's character.
