HS Art II & III - Unusual Interiors

Students in Art II & III created a work of art that either featured the interior of something not usually seen in art or that focused on an unusual perspective of a common interior. We hope you enjoy their masterpieces and artist statements!

For my project I chose to do the view from a car window. I painted a sunset in the rearview mirror. Then I used colored pencils for the background.

I chose this unusual interior for many reasons. For starters, not many people see the inside of a hand sanitizer dispenser and it is very intricate. The hand sanitizer dispenser is an often overlooked piece of real life art.

This would be maybe the inside of an Italian apartment. Looking inside it is dark. Many windows are next to the balcony.

I chose the unusual interior I did because I had an image in my head about being inside of a cookie jar while someone is reaching in the jar. The materials I used were colored pastels to give some nice shading techniques. To bring this to life, I made the Cookie Monster the star to make it look fun.

I chose to do this interior because I wanted to do a kind of landscape. Doing a telescope allowed me to show that so I chose to paint it.

My unusual interior was a perspective from under the table. I chose it because I like to sit on the floor and it's kind a fun look going from under. It allows a different perspective of something people see and use often. I like that it draws attention to the specific textures of the objects.

For my unusual interiors project I decided to do a landscape from the perspective of a beehive. I chose a beehive because I love bees. I like all the bright colors that I used like yellow for the honey and green for the grass and trees.

I decided to do this picture because it counts as an interior. It's a car interior and it's my favorite car which is a Lamborghini Hurricane EVO which is a very expensive and exotic car. The only thing I think I could have done to make this better is to shade it, but I didn't have enough time do that because it took me a long time to draw this.

I chose to do this project in colored pencil because my drawings are usually done in pencil shading and I wanted this one to be different. The reason I chose to draw a sink for this project is because sinks are quite large and would make a unique perspective to draw from. Also, the sink's faucet could add a layer of depth that would cause the picture to seem more 3-Dimensional.

This project had me puzzled because I wasn't sure what to do but as a kid I have always loved space and wanted to be on the moon so I thought of the little models of the moon cut in half so I decided to draw the inside of the moon.

I chose to do my project on my piggy bank that had broken. Most people would throw away a broken piggy bank, but I wanted to keep mine and I thought a broken piggy bank would be an intriguing focal point.

I chose to do the interior of a mushroom because I personally love mushrooms. I think they're very interesting to look at and they're pretty in my opinion. It was definitely a challenge to do all the detailing but it definitely make a strange interior. I also put all the focus on the mushroom and made the foreground and background blurred to maximize that effect.
