Middle School Art - Japanese Notan

We are now focusing on the Principles of Design in Middle School Art classes. Students just completed a project based on Balance and Contrast called Japanese Notan which involves "expanding" a piece of colored square paper by cutting out designs and flipping them out along the edges. They turned out really cool! Enjoy checking them out. (Click on each photo to see more closely.)
